Basements
- Manage foundation drainage and grading
- Check sump systems and floor drains
- Use dehumidification based on measured humidity
- Inspect stored contents and finished wall cavities
- Respond quickly to seepage or plumbing leaks
Attics and garages
- Inspect roof leaks and ventilation pathways
- Keep bathroom exhaust from terminating in the attic
- Watch for condensation on roof sheathing
- Avoid storing wet snow equipment against finishes
- Check attached-garage walls after water entry
Property conditions vary
This guide is general information. Active damage, visible mould, smoke residue, electrical concerns or unsafe conditions require a site-specific assessment.
